ELGIN – Funeral services for John Michael Wooten were held today, September 27, 1980 at Blaney Baptist Church.

Mr. Wooten, 75, died Thursday, September 25, 1980 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Columbia.

Born in Fairfield County, he was a son of the late William Lemuel Wooten and Martha Proctor Wooten. He was a Marine veteran, a Mason and a retired employee of the Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Cameron Wooten; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Betty) Campbell and Mrs. Mendell (Doris) Goff of Elgin and Mrs. James (Carolyn) Nelson of Birmingham, Alabama; a brother, Charlie W. Wooten of Elgin; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Revills of Elgin and Mrs. Sallie Gunter of Blythewood; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
