Larry Flickenger, Mount Airy, Md., drove a rocketpowered funny car 302 mph Friday night at Blaney Drag Strip.

Flickenger’s performance was notable in that he had but half a mile to stop the racer at the end of the quarter-mile run. He holds the quarter-mile world record at 342.22 mph.
