DAC makes plans for annual state assembly this weekend

The S. C. State Society, Daughters of the American Colonists, will hold its annual State Assembly Friday and Saturday at the Town House in Columbia.

Mrs. Dewitt Gaddy, state regent of Morven, N. C., will preside. Hostess chapters are the Charleston Chapter, Dr. Henry Woodward Chapter and the Pee Dee Chapter. Hostess chairmen are Mrs. Ernestine G. Fellers of Charleston, Mrs. Joe H. Dew of Lake City and Mrs. Horace T. Jacobs of Columbia. Assembly treasurer is Mrs. Homer B. Goff of Columbia.

Registration begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. The state board meets at 10:30, and at 12:30 the Colonists Officers Club will meet for lunch.

Friday evening a hospitality suite will be open at 6 p.m. to recieve members and their guests. The annual banquet will be held at 7.

Saturday morning registration will continue at 9. The state assembly convenes at 10 a.m. when reports of state officers, state chairmen and chapter regents will be heard. At noon a memorial service will be conducted by the state chaplain, Mrs. Robert A. Christopher of Clio.

The state luncheon will begin at 1 p.m. The speaker for the luncheon is Dr. Allen Stokes, director of the South Caroliniana Library at the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Horace T. Jacobs, regent of the Dr. Henry Woodward Chapter, will introduce the speaker.
