Columbia College Presented 156 bachelor’s and master’s degrees during commencement ceremonies Saturday.
With 17 honor graduates, the class of 1988 holds the distinction of having the largest number of honor graduates in teh college’s 134-year history.
The honor graduates were Wanda Neese, Karen Bull, Beth Duncan, Betty Anne Steen, E. Kay Woods Lewis, Mary Sue Joyner, Mary Susan Sutherland, Mary Elizabeth Whitehouse, Susan Stanton Atria, Taryl Dabney Holden, Rose-May Domond, Vicki Boggs, Ann-Marie Broome, Wendy Spitz, Amanda Frick, Alecia Lilly and Maggie Bobo.
The college also awarded three honorary degrees Saturday. College President Ralph Mirse, who is retiring this year, received an honorary doctorate of fine arts, Susan Aude Fischer, WIS-TV co-anchor, was awarded an honorary doctorate of humanities; and Virginia Uldrick, known statewide for her numerous contributions to the arts, was awarded an honorary doctorate of musical arts.
