Born in Richland County, he was a son of James and Mrs. Alberta Burden Middleton.

Surviving are his parents of Hopkins; sisters, Mrs. Vivian Miller and Mrs. Rosalind Isaac, both of Hopkins, and Mrs. Margaret Hudson of Elgin; brothers, Staff Sgt. Ralph Middleton of West Germany, Sgt Marvin Middleton of Fort Worth, Texas and Donnell and James Middleton Jr., both of Hopkins; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Clad of Washington, D.C.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Jerusalem Baptist Church of Hopkins.

The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel.
