John Elmer Wilson, 69, of 1023 Cherokee Road died Wednesday.

Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Clifton and Cora Abbott Wilson. He was a retired employee of Richland County, was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and the men’s Bible class and was a life member of DAV Chapter No. 13.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Claudia Marsh Wilson; and a son, James J. “Joe” Wilson of Blythewood.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Harmony Baptist Church. A viewing will be at 2 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Talbert-Shives Funeral Home.
