Friday, Feb. 2
- Take your chances tonight as E.L.Wright Middle School presents its annual Monte Carlo night at the Holiday Inn Northeast. For a $10 donation to the E.L. Wright Educational Foundation, participants receive a bag of “money” to risk on games of chance. The winnings can later be traded in on prizes donated by area merchants. The event is from 7 to 10. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
- The Sandhill Saddle Club meets tonight at 7:30 at Elgin Town Hall. Horse enthusiasts are welcome. For information, call George Rugman at 786-5490.
Saturday, Feb. 3
- The Richland Northeast Parent-Student-Teacher Association will host a dinner theater at the Brookfield Road high school tonight. Dinner catered by Queen’s Cupboard, will be served in the cafeteria beginning at 7. The mystery/comedy play “Murder in the Magnolias”will begin at 8 in the chorus room.

- Happy birthday to Dr. E Rabon Rodgers, Richland Two’s associate superintendent of finance. (It’s a “very prestigious position,” he likes to say!)
Monday, Feb. 5
- House District 79 Rep. Roland Corning will host a public meeting at 7 p.m. at E. L. Wright Middle School. The topic: “automobile insurance and other matters of concern to residents of Columbia Northeast.” Speakers include John Richards, chief insurance commissioner; consumer advocate Steve Hamm; and Burnet Maybank, legal counsel of the governor’s office.
