ELGIN – Services for Joyce Catoe Phelps, 51, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 21 at DeKalb Baptist Church with burial in Phelps family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, Memorial may be made to the DeKalb Baptist Church, 2100-A Kershaw Highway, Camden, SC, 29020. Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge.

Mrs. Phelps died Friday, January 17, 1997. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of Jessie Catoe Higgins and the late Palmer C. Catoe. She was formerly employed with Home Furnishings and Jean Newman Realty. She was also a member of the SC Farm Bureau Board of Directors; former president of SC W.I.F.E. and a member of Blaney Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Gary C Phelps; her mother of Camden; one daughter, Michelle Leigh Phelps of Elgin; one son, Darryl Maurice Phelps of Elgin; three sisters, Nina C. Mullikin of Longbranch, N. J., Linda C. Guell of Alexandria, Va., Barbara C. Rose of Elgin; two brothers, J. Caldwell Catoe of Camden and Charles P. Catoe of Camden.
