Services for Johnnie Willis Brassell, Jr., 72, will be held 2 o’clock today, July 11, 199, at Pontiac First Baptist Church. Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Clayton J. Shook. Interment will be in Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gideon Memorial Bibles, 3909 MacGregor Drive, Columbia, 29206. Pallbearers will be nephews, Jesse Harris, Mark Harris, Jeffrey Phillips, Warren Morris, Clifton Murphy and Wade Brassell, Jr. Talbert-Shives Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brassell died Friday, July 10, 1998, in Richland Memorial Hospital. Born in St. Stephens, he was a son of Esther Mitchum Brassell Morris and the late Johnnie Willis Brassell. He was a retired U. S. Air Force Veteran of World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. Mr. Brassell was a member of Pontiac First Baptist Church and Ambassadors Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife, Dollie Frances Lackey Brassell of Elgin; son, Johnnie Willis Brassell III; daughter, Cynthia Jean Brassell Martini, both of Greenwood; grandchildren, Deborah Nichole Martini, Rebekah Kelly Martini and Kimberly Von Achen; his mother of St. Stephens, brothers, Leroy Brassell of St. Stephens, Wilson Brassell of Elgin and Wade Brassell of Lugoff, sisters, Dorothy Harris of St. Stephens and Alma Morris of Elgin.
