Churches continue to join the anti-poker forces across the state as the Nov. 2 referendum on the industry’s fate draws nearer.
Lexington Baptist Church passed a resolution this week expressing its opposition to video poker. The resolution was passed during special meeting held after each of the church’s Sunday services.
Also, the Elgin Ministerial Association will hold a “Just Say No to Video Poker” rally at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Blaney Elementary School, 1621 Smyrna Road. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Joe Mack, director of Christian Life Concerns for the S. C. Baptist Convention. For more information, call (803) 438-3706.
