EASTOVER – Services for Christobell Chavis Simons, 86, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Antioch AME Zion Church in Eastover, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. tonight, and the family will be receiving friends 6-8 tonight at J.P. Holley Funeral Home, Garners Ferry Road Chapel, which is in charge.

Mrs. Simons, widow of Constinee Simons Sr., died Friday, September 17, 1999. Born in Blaney, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Preston Chavis and Fannie E. Jefferson Chavis. She was a member of Antioch AME Zion Church and a member of Antioch AME Zion Young at Heart. She was a devoted mother and homemaker.

Surviving are her sons, Constinee (Carol) Simons Jr., Honorable Donald J. (Peggy) Simons, Curtis J. (Betty) Simons; daughters, Holly Mae Scott, Dr. Juanita S. (Dr. Robert) Scott, Mary S. (Willie) Lindsey, Gracie S. (Allen) House, Levola S. (Zack) Taylor, Barbara S. Cooke, Catherine Christobell S. (Eugene) Reed Jr., Paulette S. (Pete) Hipps, Carolyn S. (Anthony) Williams, Deborah S. (Joe Louis) Smith, Brenda S. (Edward) Wider, Glenda S. (Edward) Carter; brother, Rev. Anderson B. (Willette) Chavis of Detroit, Theodore Chavis of Long Island, New York; 46 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren.
