ELGIN – Graveside services for Porter McMaster Motley, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. today, October 20, 2000 in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Reed officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of Union Baptist Church. Kornegay Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, P.O. Box 116, Elgin, S.C. 29045 to perpetuate the cemetery.
Mr. Motley died Thursday, October 19, 2000. Born in Blaney, he was the son of the late James B. Motley and Lillie Moore Motley. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Union Baptist Church. He was married to the late Gertrude Odom Motley.
Surviving are daughters, Patsy M. Ross and Peggy A. Phillips, both of Elgin; son, James “Bubba” Motley, of Elgin; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Elizabeth M. Holt, of Columbia.
He was predeceased by granddaughter, Lisa Ross and sisters, Mae Motley and Eva Garnes.
