ELGIN – Services for Bessie “Becky” McKenzie Hornsby, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Kenny Pittman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening, October 30, 2001 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff- Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church Cemetery Committee, P.O. Box 116, Elgin, SC 29045.
Mrs. Hornsby died Sunday, October 29, 2001. Born in Hampton, she was the daughter of the late Henry McKenzie and Julia Priester McKenzie. She was former owner of Blaney Grill and Blaney Ready to Wear and also a member of Union Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John “J.R.” Hornsby of Elgin; daughters, Faye Massebeau of Camden and Kathy Johnson of Aiken; stepdaughter, Lorene Cooper of Elgin; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters and seven brothers.
