FORT MILL – Services for Virginia Sharpe Spires, 76, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel conducted by the Reverend Jeff Bedwell. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Spires, wife of Orris Lucius Spires, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 in Magnolia Manor of Rock Hill. Born in Blaney, she was a daughter of the late Lafayette Weldon Sharpe and Arnie Ross Sharpe. Mrs. Spires worked in accounting for Springs Industries, was a Fort Mill Lioness and a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Mill.

Surviving are husband of Fort Mill; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Burton E. Ezzell Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters’-in-law, Addie R. Sharpe of Columbia, Nancy J. Sharpe of Irmo; number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Sharpe Brown and Laverne Sharpe Burks; brothers, Dewey Sharpe, James C. Sharpe and Taylor Sharpe. The family would like to thank the staff of Magnolia Manor of Rock Hill, particularly Unit 2 for their kind and generous care of Virginia over the last five years. Also thanks to all who have expressed their concern and offer their help over the years.
