Newman promotes watermelons
Anderson College senior Kimberly Newman has been spending spring and summer traveling up and down the East Coast promoting South Carolina grown watermelons. Ms. Newman is the South Carolina Watermelon Queen. One of her more than 60 appearances included a watermelon social at Blaney Baptist church of Elgin in Kershaw County. Among the youth and adults enjoying watermelons that day was Kershaw County Sheriff Steve McCaskill, a member of the church. Ms. Newman is active in Anderson College activities. She plans to get her masters degree in physical therapy at MUSC following graduation. Ms. Newman is the daughter of Tim and Lynne Newman of Sumter.
