ELGIN — Funeral service for Mr. Wade Edward Goff, 91, of Elgin, will be held 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2005, at Harmony Baptist Church with The Reverend Chris Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock this (WEDNESDAY) evening at Shives Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be: William Medlin, Larry Medlin, Allen Miller, Ricky Cash, Troy Miller, Gene Peake, Floyd Martin and Tom Elliott. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Harmony Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookie Doo Lane, Elgin, SC 29045.
Mr. Goff died Monday, March 21, 2005. Born February 23, 1914, in Blaney, SC, he was a son of the late William Goff and Elvie Brown Goff. He was a retired farmer and was self-employed in the nursery business. Mr. Goff was a member and Deacon of Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carrie Medlin Goff of Elgin; children, Juanita Hoglen of Columbia, Avery Goff and wife (Irene) and Betty Stockman and husband (Richard), both of Elgin and Lucille Smith of Cayce; grandchildren, Nancy Thompson, Melissa Chavis, Billy Wade Morris, Jill Riley, Donna Powell, Wayne Stockman, Michael Stockman, Whitney Stockman, Pamela Cook and Angela Wallace; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jessica, Juliet, Heather, David and Tara. Mr. Goff was preceded in death by sons, James G. Goff and Wade Edward Goff, Jr.; siblings, Fulmer, Clyde, Laverne, and Carl Goff and Evelyn Martin; a great grandchild, Teresa Cook.
