ELGIN – Funeral services for Thelma Dowey Kelly, 81, will be held Friday, May 20, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Blaney Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Ron Farrar and Courtney Joyner will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Palmetto Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202-7044 or to Blaney Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1400 Blaney Road, Elgin, SC 29045. Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff Elgin Chapel is in charge.

Mrs. Kelly, widow of Dan E. Kelly, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Born in Blaney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Dowey and Effie Abbott Dowey. Mrs. Kelly and her husband were owners of the Blaney Restaurant in her early years. Later, Mrs. Kelly participated in a number of civic activities in the town of Elgin. She was a lifetime member of Blaney Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Martha K. Moore of Poquoson, Va., formerly of Lugoff, and granddaughter, Kelly Moore Joyner and her husband, Courtney, of Poquoson, Va. She was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Dowey and son-in-law, Michael Moore.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staffs of White Oak Manor and Providence Hospital for their compassion during this time.

RITES

Thelma Dowey Kelly, 81, of Elgin, at 2 p.m. at Blaney Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Kornegay funeral home, Lugoff, Elgin Chapel, is in charge.
