ELGIN – Funeral services for James A. Chastain, 79, will be held Thursday, September 8, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Sand Hill Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Roger Snipes will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7, 2005, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Sand Hill Heights Baptist Church, 2992 Bowen Street, Elgin, SC 29045.

Mr. Chastain died Monday, September 5, 2005. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late J.S. Chastain and Ethel Todd Chastain. He had retired from Townsend Textron. Mr. Chastain was a member of Sand Hill Heights Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was also an avid bowler and golfer.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Rundlett Chastain; daughters, Sharon Linenberger and her husband, Nick, of Elgin, Sheila Sanders of Ft. Mill, and Janice Wessinger and her husband, John, of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Winchester of Townville, SC.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Nick Linenberger; brother, Clyde Chastain; and son-in-law, Tony Sanders.
