ELGIN – Funeral service for Esther Lee Thompson, 83, of Elgin, will be held 11 o’clock Saturday morning, September 24, 2005, in Hillcrest Baptist Church, with the Reverend Kenneth M. Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock this Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, P.O. Box 85, Elgin, SC 29045.

Mrs. Thompson, widow of Edward Truesdale Thompson, died Wednesday, September 21, 2005. Born in Kershaw County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Rosa Lee Jones. She was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and had retired from the Bendex Corp.

Survivors include sons, Raymond Thompson and wife, Jerri Lea, of Elgin, Terry Thompson and wife, Andrea, of Commerce Township, MI, Larry Thompson and wife, Deloris, of Camden, Eddie Thompson and wife, Paula, of Elgin, daughter; Jacqueline Miles and husband, Christopher, of Mt. Pleasant, 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Thompson.
