ELGIN– Michael “Red” Belton died Tuesday, December 5, 2006.
Funeral services for Michael Belton, 53, will be held Friday, December 8, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at James Chapel AME Church with burial in the church cemetery. Collins Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Blaney, he was a son of Minnie T. Belton and the late Carroll Belton. He was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County.
He was an avid sportsman, especially in boxing, where he held several titles in Golden Gloves Boxing. He was a former employee of Rockwell International.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Fayette W. Belton of Elgin; mother, Minnie T. Belton of Elgin; sons, Michael Damon (Diana) of Arlington Texas, Derek J’Von (Angie) Belton of Lugoff and Mark Anthony Belton of Columbia; daughter, Katrina Michelle (Larkin) Hancock of Charleston; brothers, Albert of Conneticut, Willie C. (Carol) and Billie of Elgin, Robert (Lydia) of New York and Bobby (Minnie) of Lugoff; sisters, Dorothy (Leroy) Ball of North Carolina, Ida M. Dryer of Maryland, Terri Young-Poitier (Dewitt) of New York, Louella (Garfield) Williams of Columbia, Vickie (Douglas) Jones and Sharon (Cole) Baker, both of Lugoff; aunts, Rosa Mae Clifton and Lula Belton, both of Elgin; uncles, Robert Tucker of Ridgeway and Frank Tucker of Lugoff; mother-inlaw, Katie M. Wood of Lugoff.
