ELGIN – Funeral service for Robert Walter Rose, 83, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul Miles and Rev. George Cashwell will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Mr. Rose, husband of the late Lola Mae Moak Rose, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Born in Blaney, he was a son of the late Walter English Rose and Emily Branham Rose. He retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad in 1978. After his retirement he owned and operated Rose Wrecker Service until 2007. He enjoyed restoring antique cars.
Surviving are his daughters, Janice Evatt (Dan) of Central, Roberta Hellams (Wilton) of Columbia, and Jeannie Potter (the late Chris) of Elgin; sons, Calvin Rose (Kim) of Elgin and Ervin Rose of Elgin; sisters, Carolyn Rose Branham (Charlie), Jean Rose Jeffers, Emma Dora Rose Mikesch, Vera Rose Nelson (Wayne), Betty Rose Timmerberg (Jim), and Iris Rose; brothers, Arlin Rose (Jimmie), and Jerry Rose (Barbara); 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, Coley Rose and Jimmy Rose; and sister, Doris Rose Thomas.
