Obituary of Benjamin Franklin Casselman
LUGOFF – Funeral service for Benjamin Franklin Casselman, 74, will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Elgin, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jerry Lewis will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001.
Mr. Casselman died Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Born in Lynchburg, S.C., he was a son of the late Ezra Robert Casselman and Ida Estelle Forbes Casselman. He retired as a sheet metal mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, electronics, and most of all, his family.
Mr. Casselman was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Alice R. Casselman; daughter, Rhonda Price of Lugoff; son, Benjamin F. (Sherry) Casselman, Jr. of Lexington; grandchildren, Kyle Casselman and Garrett Casselman of Lexington, Robert Price of Lugoff, and Miranda Huepenbecker (Raymond Huepenbecker) of Lugoff; brother, David (Marcha) Casselman of Camden; sisters, Lucy Sims of Lexington, Nell (Jerald) Derrick of Chapin, Dale (Ronald) Evans of Columbia, Betty (Jake) Schwartz of Hopkins, Lois Hurst of Florence, Edna Jean Scott of Seminole, Fla., and Carol (Bob) Soucek of Schaumburg, Ill; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Johnny and Beckman Casselman; and sisters, Blanche Hinson and Eloise Spigner.
The family extends great appreciation to Heartstrings Hospice of Columbia for their loving care.
