Obituary of William D Mills
ELGIN – Funeral service for William Daniel Mills, 85, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookiedoo Lane, Elgin, S.C. 29045, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Dr. Dan Griffin will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church.
Mr. Mills died Thursday, January 14, 2010. Born in Dandridge, Tenn., he was a son of the late Archie Daniel Mills and Veggie Rainwater Mills. He served in the United States Army during WW II. He was an electrician having retired from M.B. Haynes Electrical. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and fishing, and most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Mamie Price Mills; children, Sennetta Smith (Bryce) of Elgin, Delphia McDade of Raleigh, N.C., Caroline Galloway (Ken) of Etowah, N.C., Sparty Valentine (Steve) of Clyde, N.C., Rose Corbett (Bert) of Springfield, S.C. Ben McDade (Jan) of Eureka, Mont., and Wanda Young of N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Dan Mills; and a sister, Jenny Arnette.
