Mrs. Betty Jo Truman Parsons, 75 of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at her home. She was born August 15, 1934 in Topmost, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Commodore Truman and Laura Brown Truman. She was the widow of Saint Jo Parsons. Mrs. Parsons worked at Steele’s Store and Herchek’s Store. She was a member of Elgin Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Parsons will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Elgin Baptist Church with the Rev. Benjamin Nolen and the Rev. Donald Waldrop officiating. Burial will be in the Joe Hall Cemetery in Topmost, KY. Mrs. Parsons is survived by a son, Pat Parsons and his wife Kim of Indian Land; two daughters, Judy Smith of Lancaster and Missy Whetstone and her husband Wayne of Lancaster; a brother, Lee Truman and his wife Delcie of Lexington, KY.; four sisters, Patricia Duff of Hueysville, KY, Annette King and her husband Ollie James of Kite, KY, Jenny Carter of Frankfort, KY, and Velma Bentley of Topmost, KY; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Parsons was preceded in death by a daughter, Lanita Gaye Parsons Hinson, and a brother Louie Truman and two sisters, Thelma Rice and Elma Jones. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Missy and Wayne Whetstone, 1002 Meadowbrook Drive, Lancaster, SC.
