OBADIAH HARRISON OBITUARY
ELGIN – Mr. Obadiah Harrison “Obie”, son of the late Frank E. Harrison and Susie Mae McDonald Harrison was born on November 11, 1921 in Elgin, SC, and departed this life as we know it on September 3, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Harrison was the last survivor of his ten (10) siblings. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Georgia Bennett Harrison in March of 2003.
Mr. Harrison attended Cooke School in Blaney, SC, and he later enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. After his military service, Mr. Harrison worked at Crafts Farrow State Hospital as a barber until his retirement.
He was a member of Unity Methodist Church of Lugoff, SC, where he served faithfully until his health began to decline.
He enjoyed hunting, working in his garden, and taking care of his pets. He was an active member of Capital City Lodge #47, Columbia, SC.
He leaves to cherish is memories: one daughter, Bobbie Harrison; one son, Jerome Harrison of Elgin, SC; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Roberts S. Harrison of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, September 6, 2010, 12:00 pm at Unity United Methodist Church, 1332 Fort Jackson Road, Lugoff, South Carolina. Interment will be at Sutton Branch Baptist Church, Lugoff, SC.
