Obituary of Ruth A. Vaida

ELGIN – Funeral service for Ruth Audrey Vaida, 71, will be held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Blaney Baptist Church, Elgin. Rev. Paul Miles and Rev. George Cashwell will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services P.O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309 .

Mrs. Vaida died Saturday, September 4, 2010. Born in Bluefield, W.V., she was a daughter of the late Marvin Belton and Maude Beard Belton Gordon. She retired from Cooper Power Tools. She enjoyed reading, networking on the computer, movies, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Louis Vaida, Jr.; daughters, Debbie Branham (Donald) of Lugoff, Peggy Nevitt of Lugoff, and Gloria Vaida of Elgin; sister, Frances Wilkerson; and grandchildren, Kevin Branham (Janet), Brandi Branham, Mary Helen Bowers, Jamie Bowers, Audrey Dew (Lance), and Christopher Blankenship (Danell).

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kristy Lynn, and brother, Kenneth Lawrence; sister, Helen Millsap.
