The burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Columbia, SC. A Celebration of Life service and visitation will follow immediately after interment.

Mrs. Scott was born May 22, 1922, in Columbia, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Clarence Cook and Daisy Cook. She was a graduate of Dreher High School and Columbia Commercial College. The years following her marriage were spent traveling the world as the wife of an Air Force senior master sergeant. The family was stationed in Japan, Germany and Hawaii, among other military assignments. She looked at each experience as an adventure and, when retired, continued to travel with friends and family. Once the family was settled in their final military assignment, Mrs. Scott began what eventually became a 42-year career with Sears. She continued to work at Sears well into her 80s.

Mrs. Scott was a member of Beulah, Blaney, Northside and most recently Riverland Hills Baptist Churches. She maintained many friendships with members of each church. She was a reluctant gardener, but enjoyed country living in Elgin before moving to Irmo. She was an exceptional cook who also loved to sew, knit and crochet. She even demonstrated cake decorating to students at Lower Rich-land High School. Most of her craft projects were created as gifts for others.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her five children, Ellen Loer (Jim), Linda Poole, Cordell Scott II (Cathy), Robert Scott (Janet), and Larry Scott. She is survived by nine grandchildren, Dwayne Teague, Daniel Teague, Christina Jinks (Dan), Elizabeth Davis (Charles), Scott Inabinet (Sally), Lindsey Lawing, Andrew Scott (Amanda), Jonathan Scott, Rebecca Scott; seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and niece, Dixie Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cordell Scott, Sr.; her brothers, Ed Cook, Caldwell Cook and Bonnie Cook; and her sister, Edna May.

Memorials may be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church (201 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo, SC 29063) to benefit programs focusing on the needs of seniors. www.GreenlawnMemorialParkandFH-.com
