ELGIN – Funeral service for Juanita B. Coker, 81, will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Jackson and the Rev. Tommy Huddleston will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Bus Fund, 2666 Highway 1 South, Elgin, S.C. 29045.
Mrs. Coker, wife of the late Robert Willard Coker, died Saturday, August 18, 2012. Born in Blaney, she was the daughter of the late John Hubert Branham and Daisey Sloan Branham. She was former co-owner of Coker Grocery Store. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling.
Surviving are her son, Robert Coker (Marie Browder) of Elgin; daughters, Linda C. Tucker of Elgin and Jeannie C. Branham (Irving) of Elgin; sister, Maude Cherry; grandchildren, Patty Adolphson, Jeff Tucker, Dena Young, K.R. Tucker, Stephanie DeWitt, Bobby Coker, Kelly McLeod, Christy Collier, and Amy Burnette; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers, Leonard Branham and J.W. Branham; and sisters, Ruth Morgan and Leona Smith.
The family expresses a heartfelt appreciation to Peggy Whittle for her loving care given to Mrs. Coker, and also the staff of Hospice of Tri-County.
