Obituary of Donald F. Dabney
CAMDEN – Funeral service for Donald Fredrick Dabney, 76, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia. The Rev. Brent Kendall will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-7:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice or KershawHealth Oncology Department.
Mr. Dabney passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 after a long illness. He was the only son of the late Elihu Fredrick Dabney and Ruth Dixon Dabney. Mr. Dabney was a member of Camden First Baptist Church and was a former county manager for Farm Bureau Insurance and former founder and co-owner with his wife of First Service Insurance Agency. He also served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Jean B. Dabney; daughter, Donna Outen (Larry) of Cassatt; sons, Brian Dabney of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Keith Dabney of San Francisco, CA.; three step-children, Al (Shelly) Dabney and Vic (Patsy) Dabney of Camden and Cyn Dabney LaRoche of Johns Island, S.C. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Doris D. Vinson, Elaine D. Cassady and Marie D. Crosby. He was predeceased by a sister, Miriam D. Jones; and his first wife, Neysia H. Dabney.
