ELGIN – A funeral service to celebrate the life of Helen Isabelle “Belle” Kirkland Motley, 83, of Elgin, SC, will be held at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Sandhill Heights Baptist Church in Elgin. Rev. Lanny Brisendine will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to Sandhill Heights Baptist Church, P. O. Box 96, Elgin, SC 29045.

Belle, widow of Claude Barnett Motley, Sr., died Sunday, August 11, 2013. She was born in Blaney, SC, the daughter of the late Arthur Ernest Kirkland and Janie Perry Kirkland. Belle was a founding member of Sandhill Heights Baptist Church.

Belle is survived by her son, Claude B. Motley, Jr.; daughters, Robin McLeod (Nelson McLeod) and Bridget Clarke (Shawn Clarke); grandchildren, Stacey Keasler, Reagan Neal (Reese Neal), Michelle McLeod (fiancé Sam Jones), Jay McLeod, Isabella Clarke and McAyla Clarke; great-grandchildren, Bailey Keasler, Ryleigh Neal and River Neal, all of Pontiac; brothers, Marion Kirkland (Mary Kirkland); sister-in-law, Jackie Kirkland; and many in-laws and relatives.

Besides her husband and parents, Belle is predeceased by her daughter, Jeanette Motley Fulmer; brothers, Powell Kirkland and Perry Kirkland; daughter-in-law, Joyce Motley; and many in-laws and relatives.
