Jerry E. Rose of Elgin, SC died on March 15, 2016 in Charleston. He was 77. He was born on August 3, 1938 to the late Walter E. Rose and Christine Hornsby Rose.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Catoe Rose, his son Christopher E. Rose, daughter, Valerie Rose Ingram (Clayton); grandson, Dillon T. Ingram and granddaughter Keely S. McCabe; brother, Arlin D. Rose, sisters Carolyn Branham, Jean Jeffers, Emma Dora Mickesch, Vera Nelson, Betty Timmerberg, Iris Rose and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by son, Jerry E. Rose, Jr. and daughter Elizabeth Rose-McCabe, brothers Coley Rose, Robert Rose and Jimmy Rose, a sister, Doris Thomas.
Jerry retired from the Clemson Research and Development Station and was a member of Union Baptist Church. He served his country in the US Navy. He was an avid hunter in his younger years, enjoyed gardening, motorcycle riding and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Keely.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 18 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at the Lugoff-Elgin Chapel of Kornegay Funeral Home. Homegoing services will be conducted by the Reverend Jerry Lewis at Union Baptist Church, 1177 Wildwood Lane, Elgin at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 19, 2016 with interment in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made in Jerry’s memory to Union Baptist Church, 1177 Wildwood Lane, Elgin, SC 29045
