Obituary of James Henry Watts

ELGIN – Funeral service for James Henry Watts, 83, will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Mr. Watts passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Born in Blaney, S.C., he was the son of the late Robert Owens Watts and Martha Mae Rabon Watts. He retired from Stone Apparel after 46 years where he was a Cutting Supervisor. He enjoyed wood working, camping traveling and tinkering in his shop. Mr. Watts was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he was a longtime deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Betty Virginia Hinson Watts; daughter, Cindy Kirkley (Rip); son, Regie Watts (Louise); sisters, Shirley Bench, Wilma Daniels (Darrel), and Brenda Nash; brother, Laverne Watts; grandchildren, R.J. Kirkley, Kyle Kirkley, Ben Watts, and Abby Watts; and a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Grace Kirkley.

He was predeceased by brothers, Robert Watts, Huey Watts, Edward Watts, Earl Watts, McArthur Watts, and William Lee Watts; and sister, Carolyn Truesdale.
