Betty “Libby” Miles Poole was born in Blaney, South Carolina, on October 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Walter Leon Miles and Lillie Easter Owens Miles.
1940 Census Information:
According to the United States Census recorded on April 12, 1940, W L Miles (51) owned a home in Wateree Township, Kershaw, South Carolina with his wife, Lillie E Miles (40) and their children; Mildred Miles (19), Oliver L Miles (16), Doris Miles (14), Emma Dora Miles (13), Fay Miles (9), Betty Miles (7), and William Preston Miles (1), and his brother-in-law, Owens Poynor Miles (28). It was reported that all family members were born in South Carolina and lived in the same house on April 1, 1935. W L Miles was an operator of a farm.

ELGIN – Funeral services for Betty Miles Poole, 86, will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Blaney Baptist Church, with a visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Pastor Jacob Helsley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blaney Baptist Church or Kershaw County Library.
Mrs. Poole passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Born in Blaney, SC, on October 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. Miles and Lillie E. Owens Miles. She was the director of nursing at Kershaw County Memorial for many years. Mrs. Poole and her late husband, Freddie Rex Poole, Sr., ran Cajun Country in Lugoff after retirement. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
Surviving are her children, Linda P. Melcher (Bernie) and Freddie Rex Poole, Jr.; granddaughter, April M. Meadows (Marlon); sister, Gloria Squires (Ellison).
She was predeceased by her siblings, Doris Fulmer, Faye Duich, Buster Miles, Billy Miles, Emmadora Bilbo and Mildred Branham.
