CASSATT- A graveside service for John Wesley Gaskins, 36, will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Keith Stott will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prisma Health Richland Children’s Hospital or the Theil-Meyer Pet Adoption Center.

Wesley passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020. Born in Columbia, he was a son of John Wesley “Johnny” Catoe and Wendy Rose Gaskins. Wesley enjoyed volunteering his time at Prisma Health Richland Children’s Hospital. He also loved music, playing the drums and his guitar, and singing.

Surviving are his mother, Wendy Gaskins; father, Johnny Catoe; a step-brother, John M. Catoe (Rachel Catoe); 2 nieces; 2 nephew; his cat and companion, “My Buddy;” and several aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Herbert Gaskins, Sr. and Emmie Mae Gaskins; and paternal grandparents, Mack Cain and Betty Cain.
