KERSHAW – Funeral service for Carrie H. Pate, 96, will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Donnie Barrett will officiate.  The family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral home, Lugoff.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Theil-Meyer Pet Adoption Center.

     Mrs. Pate, wife of the late Harold Pate, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021.  Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Tillman Hayes and Mary Hornsby Hayes.  She retired from Hermitage Cotton Mill.  She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

    Surviving are her daughter, Betty Bowers (Joe); grandchildren, Elizabeth Carraway, (Ed Corey), Mandy Sims (Timmy), Eugene Ray (Valerie), Todd Housand and Jamie Ray; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Earl Catoe. 

She was predeceased by her husband; son, Eugene Blease Ray; grandson, Chuck Carraway; sister, Rosa Lee Barrett; and brothers, Henry
