Thekla Marie Petty Hanna
April 15, 1972 – August 21, 2021

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Thekla Marie Petty Hanna, 49, of Elgin will be held at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, on 11, September, at 2:00 PM.

Thekla died Saturday, August 21, 2021. Born in Fort Sill, OK, she was the daughter of Bruce Petty and Margrith Profos Petty of Tinton Falls, NJ, and wife of Curtis Franklin Hanna of Elgin. She is also survived by her son, Shane Anderson, of Elgin; brothers, Urs Petty of Galion, OH and Jorg Petty of Centennial, WY; sister, Regina Barnett of Folsom, LA; and 5 nieces and nephews.

She attended The Art Institute of Charlotte where she received her Assoc. Degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management. She was an active member with the Royal Riders, which she operated in the capacity of the group’s treasurer. She was a woman who loved to bake for friends and family and was well known for her breakfast cakes and fresh homemade breads. She was unselfish and always put others before her own wants and needs. She spent the majority of her time to make sure that her adoptive son, who she took in when no one else would, received the best care and even managed to get him once more on the list to be a recipient for a new kidney. She was a wonderful daughter to her parents, and never missed a day that she did not share time with them on the phone. She was friend, confidant, partner and wife to her husband, a loving friend and sister to her extended family, and the world will be a poorer place without her in it.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
