Obituary of Lowell T. Mills
LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Lowell Thomas Mills, 86, will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Eric Boone will officiate. The family will receive friends 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 836 Pine Grove Road Lugoff, SC 29078 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2610 Wyckoff Road, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27607.
Mr. Mills passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center. Born in Pageland, S.C., he was the son of the late J. Van Mills and Louise Anderson Mills. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He founded Mills Electric Service, Inc. in 1962 and was still currently working there part-time.
Mr. Mills was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lugoff Masonic Lodge #411 and was a lifetime member of Camden Shrine Club. He enjoyed boating, yardwork, spending time with his friends at Kershaw Health Cardiac Rehab, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice Branham Mills; daughter, Debbie Weatherford (Ronnie) of Little River; son, Joel Mills (Charlotte) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Ashley Steele (Tyson), Kyle Mills, Amanda Weatherford (Matt Miller), and Lauren Boykin (Erik); and great-grandchildren, Macy Mills, Adley Boykin, Kaden Steele, Sage Steele and Bauer Boykin. He was predeceased by siblings, Lou Vandella Mills, Harry Mills, and Martha Smith.
