A memorial service for Mary Dawson Douglass, 95, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church  Rev. Jim Davis will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 502 E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020.

The family of Mary Dawson Douglass wishes to announce her passing on January 15, 2022.  Mary was born on January 24, 1926, in Huntington W. VA., to Daniel Dawson and Cora Day Dawson.  She was predeceased by her husband, Bob Douglass.  Mary was educated in Huntington public schools, Marshall University, and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, VA. She worked as a choir director, director of Christian education, church secretary, and bookkeeper.  Mary was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian  Church, where she served her church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, newsletter editor, Presbyterian Women officer, and elder.  She served her community as a cub scout den mother and as a Laubach tutor.

Mary is survived by her children, Betsy Whitehouse (Chip), Dan Douglass (Julianne), and Bill Douglass (Lara). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rob Whitehouse (Andrea), Todd Whitehouse (Mary Elizabeth), Eric Whitehouse (Candice), John Douglass, Reed Douglass, Matt Leopard (Joy), and Spencer Douglass, and a special niece, Becky Jarrett (Blaine).  In addition, Mary is survived by six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  She was predeceased by her sister, Jane Leith, and brother, Bill Dawson.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
