Obituary of Carolyn W. Hopkins

CAMDEN- A funeral service for Carolyn Beth Watkins Hopkins, 85, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Barnes Cemetery. The Rev. Brandon Goff will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Medical Clinic of Kershaw County.

    Mrs. Hopkins, wife of the late Bruce Stanley Hopkins, passed away January 30, 2022. Born in Camden, she was a daughter of the late James Belton Watkins and Mildred Barnes Watkins. Mrs. Hopkins attended The River Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and grand-dogs.

    Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Baker (Bobby) of Ridgeway, Deborah “Debbie” Messer of Lugoff, Melinda Boggs of Lugoff; siblings, Trudy Watkins of Camden, Carl “Buddy” Watkins (Jayne) of Cassatt; grandchildren, Robert Baker (Lauren), Sarah Beth Locklear (Dylan), Hannah Boggs, Ashli Messer, Amber “Nikki” Boggs; and a great-grandson, R.J. Baker. She was predeceased by a son, LaBruce Hopkins.
