A memorial service to honor the life of Steve Furman Smart, Sr.,79, of Camden, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 4, 2022, at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Kershaw County Humane Society, 128 Black River Road, Camden, SC, 29020 or the animal rescue of your choice.  He was a lover of all animals, especially his little dog, Daisy.

Steve was a veteran in the United States Air Force and a county Public Assembly Operations Manager in several counties.  His favorite job was being an “Ice Man” and Zamboni driver for the Columbia Inferno hockey team.  Steve was also a member of American Legion Post 17 and the Camden Country Club.

Steve is survived by his wife, Bonnie Barnmaker Smart; sons, Steve Smart, Jr. (Amy) and Robert Smart; step-children, Mickey Cox (Lisa), Bradd Cox, Deborah Brannen; grandson, Matthew Smart; step-grandchildren, Joshua Cox and Daniel Cox; sister Kathy (Greg) Jakubetz; and brothers Tommy Smart and “Butch” Smart.

Besides his parents, Steve was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
