Obituary of Douglas Cooper, Jr.
A funeral service for Douglas Cooper, Jr., 94, will be held April 1, 2022, at 11:00 AM at International Praise Church, Elgin, officiated by Rev. Doyle Roberts. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow the service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Elgin.
Mr. Cooper was born May 26, 1927, to the late Douglas L. Cooper Sr. and Mittie McCallister Cooper. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked in textile manufacturing most of his life. Mr. Cooper enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising his hunting dogs.
Surviving is his daughter, Connie C. Noel (Philip); brother, E.J. Cooper; grandchildren, Elyse Cooper-Lemonds (Steven), Philip Noel IV, and Megan Noel; and great-grandchildren, Liam Lemonds, Sadie Lemonds, Ryan Lemonds, Abigail Lemonds, Logan Noel, Carson Noel, and Sara Oliver.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lorene Joyce Cooper; a son, Ronnie Cooper; brothers, Hoyt Cooper, Arthur Cooper, Harry Cooper, and Elvin Cooper; and sisters, Mary McCutcheon, Irene Hughes, and Ann Hill.
