J’von Eugene Mitchell, age 66 years, a lifelong resident of Camden, South Carolina, died on May 2, 2022. He was born June 13, 1955, the younger of two sons of Catherine Ballard (Carter) Mitchell and Sam Mitchell. J’von silently left this earthly abode to dwell in the home made and built by God. He was predeceased by his parents and older brother, Samuel Mitchell.
J’von received his early education at Boylan Haven Mather Academy and Jackson High School. He attended Howard University and New York University before returning to his beloved Camden community and continuing to study computer science and law. Over the years he became a Paralegal and earned many certificates in computer science, law and many other disciplines. He loved learning and was very proud when he built his first computer. He could be found daily at the Kershaw County Library until his illness prevented him from driving. After returning to Camden, he worked for several years as a cab driver, sales associate, and in the most recent 25 years as a part-time employee of Security America. He leaves to cherish his everlasting memories and celebrate his homecoming his older sister, Joyce Carter-Krawczyk (Thaddeus Krawczyk) of Rhinebeck, N.Y., a nephew, John Krawczyk, two nieces, LaVida Mickle and Christine Porter, several cousins, karate coach and best friend, Mark Sims, and friend and confidant Valerie Moore Workman.
No service is planned at this time. As per the family’s request cremation will take place, with interment at Cedars Cemetery in Camden, joining his parents, brother, and favorite aunt, Rosa Ballard. The family is requesting no flowers but donations in his memory can be made to Mental Health America of Kershaw County, 110 E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020, or the charity of your choosing
