Dan Rochester of Wilmington, North Carolina | 2022 | Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Dan Rochester announces Dan’s passing on June 27, 2022 after battling health complications.  A celebration of life for Dan will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 PM in Richardson Hall at Grace Episcopal Church, 1315 Lyttleton, Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Dan brought genuine warmth and light to every conversation through his friendly, generous, and ever-engaging spirit. As many of you know, he absolutely never met a stranger, or hesitated to engage in offering a hand to those he crossed paths with; always acting out of pure generosity, love and kindness. He found immense joy and grew his faith through spending time in the presence of nature-believing each unique interaction with nature was proof of God’s ability to perform miracles and exist beyond. His favorite example being the sunsets, each one uniquely beautiful.

Dan and Bonnie shared a passion for the ocean, scuba diving, fishing, boating, shell seeking, fossil hunting, traveling and outdoor adventures and never missed an opportunity to appreciate nature together.

He loved cranking up good tunes, cooking in a cast iron pan, casting a line, playing tennis, training his Labrador retrievers and trying his hand at guitar. He was curious and fearless, which often led to unexpected adventures for his family.

Dan was an adoring father who gleefully attended, supported, and cheered with his whole heart at any sporting event, school event, and life event-no matter how big or small. He was a great listener and had an amazing strength in finding humor even in the most testing of times as a parent, always showing us comfort and love and providing us with endless support, patience, and safety.

 As unexpected as his passing was, we strive to find joy and peace in knowing God has a perfect and unique plan for him just like the sunsets.
