Obituary

Otis Burl “O.B.” Gandy, 95, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Saturday, October 15, 2022, in Agape Hospice House of the Midlands, Columbia, S.C. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Walter Coleman Gandy and Minnie Taylor Gandy. He retired form DuPont after 34 years of service. Mr. Gandy enjoyed playing golf, working puzzles and gardening. He also loved to fix things and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Ray Gandy and his wife, Ellie; his daughter, Myra G. Smith; 3 grandchildren, Christy Holley and her husband, Scott, Rev. Todd Gandy and his wife, Melissa and Jaime Smith; 6 great grandchildren, Heath, Matthew, Olivia, J.T., Cameron and Peyton; his brother, Charles Gandy and his wife, Mary Lou and his sister, Ruth Lawhorne and her husband, Gene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn Ruth Outen Gandy and siblings, Myrtle, Mary, Masie, Jessie, Vera Lee, Essie, Carl, Coleman, Earl, Ward and Ralph.

Funeral services for Mr. Gandy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in the sanctuary of Abney Baptist Church. The Revs. Scott Robison and Todd Gandy will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Larry Plyler officiating.

The family will greet friends attending the service following the committal service in the cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Gandy may be made to Abney Baptist Church, 5180 Bethune Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
