Obituary of Thereasa Elaine Casey Hines
Thereasa Elaine Casey Hines, 77, of Elgin, and formerly of Spartanburg, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James Fred Casey and Aleth McCurry Casey, and the wife of Dr. Raymond Kenneth Hines. Thereasa was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Spartanburg. She enjoyed a rewarding career as an educator and received her B.A. degree from Winthrop College and her M.A. degree from Converse College. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, reading, and gardening. She also enjoyed shopping for and collecting antiques. Above all, Thereasa cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Joseph Hines and Kris Hines; grandchildren, James Kinchen Hines, Gretchen Marie Davis, Anna Kirstin Hines, and Chandler Dean Hines; her great-grandchildren, Thomas Davis and Edwin Davis; siblings, Brenda Anthony, Dianne Strickland, Vicki Fowler, and Alvin Casey; as well as her beloved dog, Squirt, and cats, Frosty, Simon, and Monster.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, officiated by Rev. Todd Horton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am. Burial will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia.
