Obituary
George Edward Grant Sr. was born on November 28, 1960, in Camden South Carolina and transitioned on December 8, 2022.
George Sr. was a graduate of Camden High School. Upon graduation in 1978, George Sr. entered the U.S Military, where he served proudly for 14 years. He was the owner and operator of Grant Incorporated Trucking Company. His commercial driving career lasted over thirty years. He was notable in the trucking community as Empty Pockets.
While serving our country, George Sr. rekindled his love of football playing for the United States Army and found new passion in boxing. George Sr. will be remembered for his love of high-end vehicles, traveling the country, and his appreciation of good music.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was known for his funny jokes, sense of humor and clever comebacks. He was true renaissance man that excelled at many endeavors. His hands-on approach to life instilled strong morals, and integrity into many of those that surrounded him.
George Edward Grant Sr. is preceded in death by his father and mother, Burl Grant and Pearl Grant and his eldest son George E. Grant II.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Deloris Grant of Camden SC; three children, Clarissa Grant of Tampa, Florida, Samuel (Shante) Grant of Camden SC and Marsiah Grant of Camden SC; three grandchildren, Joshua, Xavier and Davion; three sisters, Burlene Tharpe of Richmond VA, Anette Grant of Camden SC and Jacqueline Grant Showell of Columbia SC; two brothers, Calvin Grant of New York, New York and Corey (Alina) Green of Camden SC; a lifelong childhood friend, Raymond Johnson and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
