Steven Adamson

Steven Adamson, 88, was born May 22, 1934, in Camden, South Carolina to Preston Adamson and Sarah Jones Adamson. He heard the voice of his Lord and Savior exclaim “Enter into the joy of your Lord!” on April 23, 2023.

Steven spent his youth in Camden, South Carolina, before his family relocated to Brooklyn NY. In his 40s he was baptized. When he was 11 years old, his family moved to New York where he attended Cornerstone Baptist Church with his family. Later in life, he was baptized at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Steven worked for 25 years with the NYC Transit Authority as a machinist and mechanic.

Steven married Valentine Brown in his 20’s. From this union, the couple enjoyed the arrival of now Bishop, Shirley Stanfill. After the separation of their marriage, he met and married his wife, Caroline Spence of Camden, NJ. They were married 25 years before her passing in 1995. From this union four children were born: Merelyn Adamson-Berkeley, Preston, Veronica, and Vincent Adamson. In his 70’s, an opportunity arose to return to his hometown of Camden, SC, where his sister, Harriet Reed, had also returned. While in Camden, Steven enjoyed the comfort of his home and was a frequent visitor to various churches, including; Camden First United Methodist Church, Haigs Creek Church, and GraceLife Church. He particularly grew during bible studies at House of Prayer Ministries.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Sarah Adamson; sister, Harriet Reed; and his beloved wife, Caroline Spence Adamson.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Shirley Stanfill, Merelyn Adamson-Berkeley, Preston Adamson, Veronica Adamson, and Vincent Adamson; sister, Sheila Mcintosh; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
