Laura Ann Minard, 67, of Camden, SC, passed away on August 12, 2023 after her second battle with cancer. She was born on August 24, 1955, in Tawas City, Michigan, to the late Reatha and John Hinkley. Laura was a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed by her loved ones.
Laura was known for her intelligence, humor, drive, competitiveness, and perfectionism. She had a sharp mind and a quick wit that brought joy to those around her. Laura’s determination and ambition led her to co-found L.W. Sin-Sations in Phoenix, AZ, and LasMem Arabians in Verona, NY. She also had a successful career as a real estate broker in upstate New York and Columbia, South Carolina.
Outside of her professional life, Laura had a deep passion for Arabian horses. She dedicated much of her time to breeding and showing these magnificent creatures. Her love for Arabian horses brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She also loved dogs. She owned several Yorkies and bred them for a time. At the time of her passing she had a beloved Akita, Nikki.
Laura is survived by her loving husband, Mark, step-daughter, Danielle and foster-daughter Kathy (Jose) McDaniel Cuellar. She is also survived by her siblings, Wanda Hinkley and Wesley Hinkley, as well as her nieces, Allison (Terry) Stiles, Elizabeth Hinkley, Audra Meagher, Amanda Hinkley, Adrienne Meagher, Caitlin Hinkley, and nephew, Wesley JT Hinkley. Additionally, Laura leaves behind four grand nieces and one grand nephew, as well as one great-grand niece. She was preceded in death by her mother, Reatha, father, John, and her previous husband, Wayne Shansey.
A memorial service to celebrate Laura’s life will be held on September 23, 2023, at 12:30pm at Connection Church located at 3855 S Sheldon Rd, Canton, MI 48188.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the ALS Association in Laura’s memory. These organizations were close to her heart, and any contributions would be greatly appreciated.
Laura Ann Minard touched the lives of many with her vibrant personality, unwavering determination, and love for Arabian horses. She will forever be remembered as a cherished wife, stepmother, foster mother, sister, aunt, and friend. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
