Obituary of Edgardo “Edgar” Casiano

Edgardo “Edgar” Casiano, 85, of Elgin, SC, and formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Eulises Casiano and Calixta Mercado and the husband of the late Elsie Casiano. Edgar was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lugoff, where he enjoyed singing in the church choir. He loved animals, dancing, and salsa music. He was an excellent cook and had a wonderful sense of humor that included an unlimited supply of corny ‘dad’ jokes. Edgar also enjoyed gardening and using his carpentry skills to restore older houses. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and his beloved church family at Trinity Baptist Church.

Edgar is survived by his children, Edgardo Casiano, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, Milton Casiano of Lancaster, PA, Marilyn Casiano of Lancaster, PA, Shirley Casiano of Lancaster, PA, and Madalyn Vega (Joseph) of Freehold, NJ; his siblings, Marcos Casiano of Lebanon, PA and Cali Casiano of Brooklyn, NY; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Edgar was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond Casiano and Marie Lind.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Trinity Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Charles Everett. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Elgin. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1062 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.
