Obituary of Wesley Lee Marthers, Sr.

RIDGEWAY – Graveside service for Wesley Lee Marthers, Sr., 86, will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in Pine View Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Clarence Boney will officiate.   A time of gathering will follow the graveside at the home of Michael and Cindy Baum, 1310 Blythewood Road, Blythewood, S.C.

Mr. Marthers passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Dorn V.A. Medical Center.  Born in Winnsboro, he was the son of the late Arthur Lee Marthers and Laura Raines Marthers.  He served in the United States Air Force and retired after many years of owning and operating Marthers Fence Company.  He enjoyed shrimping, fishing, playing cards, and most of all spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Brown Torbert Marthers; children, Wesley Lee Marthers Jr. (Lynn) of Dillon, Cindy Baum (Michael) of Blythewood, Rev. Bruce Marthers (Deborah) of Camden, and Amber Gunn (Steven) of Gilbert; brother, Jerry Marthers of Cassatt; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Beth Marthers.
